The School of Environment and Planning of Henan University was founded in 1923 as the Department of Geosciences of Zhongzhou University. The first department head was Professor Feng Jinglan, a well-known geoscientist and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. After more than 90 years of hard work, the college has developed into a comprehensive college with geography as the main body, environmental science, ecology, surveying science and technology and regional economics. The College has a doctoral degree in geography and a postdoctoral research station. It has five secondary disciplines: physical geography, human geography, cartography and geographic information systems, economic geography, and remote sensing information science and technology.
